When can I come to Kingdom Kids?
On Sunday mornings we offer two sessions of Kingdom Kids. Our first session is offered during the 8:30 am worship service and our second session is offered during the 9:45 am worship service. Part of our Sunday School experience includes worship. Children first worship with their family, then attend Kingdom Kids with children their age. Upon registering your child you must indicate a 1st and 2nd choice of which session you would like your child to attend. In an effort to improve our overall programming and in the interest of space and safety, classes are balanced based upon receipt of registration. As classes reach their maximum capacity families will be enrolled in their 2nd choice. Students in 5th and 6th grade are offered one session of Kingdom Kids during the 8:30 am worship service entitled Kids On The FLY. Families with a child in 5th or 6th grade will be automatically enrolled in the 1st session to allow for participation in this program. Regardless of which session your child is enrolled in, it is our intention to ensure that each child has a safe, positive, and memorable experience that they look forward to each week.
What happens during Kingdom Kids?
Children first worship with their family, then attend Kingdom Kids with children their age following the children’s sermon. Children leave the children’s sermon to meet in designated rooms. 3 year olds through Kindergarten meet in their classrooms then attend a large group opening in the choir room. Following opening they go back to the classroom for their lesson. Children in 1st through 6th grade meet in the Fellowship Hall for a large group opening then are dismissed to their classrooms. The 1st through 4th grade children will participate in Salvation Stations with SPARK. Children rotate to various rooms for salvation station learning each week during their unit with their Teacher. Children in 5th and 6th grade will participate in Kids On The FLY in the Youth Room following opening.
What is Kids On The FLY?
Children in the fifth and sixth grade will participate in a program we call Kids On The FLY. This offers the fifth and sixth grade students a chance to build strong, lasting relationships and explore vital faith and life issues as they prepare to continue on their faith journey. Kids On The FLY represents Kingdom Kids transitioning into FLY which stands for First Lutheran Youth. Every Sunday they will meet in the youth room for breakfast, SPARK faith talk and relationship building as a class. This will introduce them to youth programming as they prepare to enter 7th grade in the following years.
What will my child be learning?
Kingdom Kids students will use SPARK, our new curriculum as of Fall 2009. SPARK is a Sunday school faith formation program designed for kids age 3-Grade 6. SPARK allows for teaching the Bible story in the way that works best for the teachers and the students! The SPARK Story Bible (age 3-Grade 2) and SPARK Bible (NRSV) (Grade 3-Grade 6) are designed to encourage kids to interact and engage with God's Word and serve as the curriculum's key learner resource. SPARK empowers kids' creativity and imagination as they explore Scripture through exciting activities that reinforce the lessons. Kids open the Bible each week and engage in scripture; watch them grow in faith by encountering God’s word!
