Brothers and Sisters in Christ,

If this past year has taught us anything, it is that First Lutheran Church is so much more than a building. We are God’s people gathered and scattered to be signs of God’s love to our neighbors and community.

As we look to the past, we see God’s word passed down from generation to generation in our congregation.  As we look at the present, we see a congregation that has grown closer to each other and the community in which we live.  As we look to the future, we envision a growing congregation encouraged and equipped with a mission to live out.

Our goal is to raise $2.9 million dollars in the upcoming campaign to eliminate the debt we have on our new building. Yes, this is a big goal, but God is even bigger. God has big plans for us.  Based on our history of giving it is within reach to eliminate our debt in three years.  This three-year capital campaign is titled Beyond the Building…Freeing ourselves to be the church. This beautiful building is a launch pad for worship, learning and serving.

We want to be clear however, that while some are able to participate at this time, others may find that they are not able to do so because of the current financial climate. Everything matters, whether it be your prayers, your encouraging support, or your financial gift. It all makes a difference.

Commitment Sunday is May 23. Our hope is that we will have one service that morning outside on our church property at 10:00 am followed by a time of fellowship and boxed lunches. All of this depends on Covid restrictions and guidelines, but we are hopeful we can all worship together that morning.

I continue to be amazed by your resilience and faithfulness. The Holy Spirit is clearly moving among us. I hope that you will join me in supporting the Beyond the Building campaign. Thank you for your partnership in ministry.

In Christ,

Pastor Greg Billberg
